Redflag User/Group Administrator is GUI based tool designed for system administrator, and we can manage users and groups more conviently with it. Many informations, such as User Information, Group Information can be inquired and modified. Even more, we can alse add/delete users or groups with it¡£
Start / Stop GUI:
The Administrator will be activated by typing "rfuser" on terminal.
Click on the "User" tab£¬user listview will appeared and all users' information are listed by columns in detail.
These informations displayed will be:User Name¡¢User ID¡¢Main Group¡¢Description¡¢Shell¡¢Root Directory£»
Double clicking on the list item you want to modify, a "User Property Dialog" will be ejected. This action can also be achieved by clicking the right button on the item and choose "Properties" option from the popupmenu.
1."User Infomation"tab contains User Name¡¢User ID¡¢Main Group¡¢Description¡¢Shell¡¢Root Directory, etc.
2."Password" tab contains informations such as "Expiring time", "Deny login", and user password can be modified or disabled on this tab.
3. "User/Group Relationship" tab shows group(s) to which the user subjected. This can be modified by clicking "Add" and "Delete" buttons on the middle of the tab.
4. Save: Click "Modify" button to apply all the modifications we have made, otherwise the settings will remain unchanged.
Supper user has right to add new user to system.
To create a new user count for system, there are some relative steps have to be done:
1.Add a user record to /etc/passwd;
2.Create a root directory for the user;
3.Create a default configuration file in user's root directory.
4.Setup "password", "main group", etc.
"Add New User" wizard can be activated by clicking on "Tools" menu and choose "Add New User" option.
1 The first page "User Information"have some basic informations including User Name¡¢User ID¡¢Description¡¢Shell¡¢Root Directory, etc.
¡̣User Namemust be composed of english letter, number and '_' , and the first letter must be in the range of 'a~z'. Further more, the user name may not be the same to any User Name existed in system.
¡̣UserID is a unique identifier for the user, and it should be auto assigned by system hopefully.
¡̣Discription is a brief introduction of the user.
¡̣Shell is a login Shell provided by system when the user logged on.
¡̣Root Directory: The work directory of the user.
3 User-Group Relationship Set main-group which the user will be subject to. If not assigned, a new group with a same name to the user will be created, and the user will be added to this new group automatically.
4 Finish Page: Single click the "Finish" button, the new user will be added to system¡£
Click the right button on the item you want to delete and choose "Delete" option from the popupmenu, a warning dialog will appeared to avoid you from deleting a wrong user.
(Very important: All files and directories in the user's root directory will be lost after the user was deleted!
We have various methods on inquiring group's properties. Double clicking on the list item you want to modify, a "Group Property Dialog" will be ejected. This action can also be achieved by clicking the right button on the item and choose "Properties" option from the popupmenu.
Workgroups are in very common use in multi-user systems.
Some users who have similar properties can be classified to a special group, so they will have the rights of this group automatically.
Many group's properties can be modified, such asGroup Name , Group ID, Description, Members, etc. Modifications will not be valid until the "Modify" button is pressed¡£
We often need to assign same task to many users in administrating system, and group is a right solution to this need.
Creating a new group to manager users will lighten the load of maintaining file system.
Click on "Tools" menu and choose "Add New User" option, "Add New Group" wizard can be activated.

¡̣"User/group Relationship"shows all members of the group, its number can be more than one or be none.
Click the right button on the item you want to delete and choose "Delete" option from the popupmenu, a warning dialog will appeared to avoid you from deleting a wrong group.
The members of this group( if any) will not be deleted.
Unless you are very acknowledged to the system users and groups, don't delete or modify system users and groups with your own mind, especially the "root".
Otherwise, it may cause system unstable or crash.
All files and directories in work directory will be lost after a user was deleted!
